2008 Breeding
Information
Bullet stands almost 15 hands and weighs
in around 1000 pounds. He's a dark dunalino that breeds
97% color. Out of mares who are grey, black, bay,
sorrel or buckskin he has had one bay. He classes up
many solid colored mares. His foals are palomino,
buckskin, dun, dunskin, dunalino, bay dun, red dun and zebra
dun.
We searched for the right stud
for our band of mares for quite some time. We were lucky
enough to find much more than we expected. We bought Bullet as
a yearling in 2004, from good people who were skilled in
raising quality horses. Bullet has the intelligence and
instinct of a world-class cow horse but a settled mind. He is
laid back with a easy loving nature until he is asked to
perform.
For a stud he has gentleman-like
manners. In the pasture, he protects his harem for unseen
competition. Yet he is gentle and calm if he can get
human attention. Bret has taken him out of the mares, leading
him to the breeding pen where an outside mare awaits. After
Bullets covers the mare, he is saddled and goes through the
routine schooling session. Thirty minutes to an hour Bullet
returns to his harem. All in a days work for this wonderful
horse.
As a cow horse he is a quick study and
very agile. This horse knows where his feet are every moment
and can shift weight quickly by the heart
beat. Bullet competes in working classes as well as
showing in halter at OKFQHR shows.
2005, Bullet bred three mares his
first year, 2004. It was as much a training session and
an experiment to see what he could produce as a sire. We were
thrilled to say the least. His only ranch bred foal
was a filly, Isabela.
She is gorgeous.
2006, Bret pasture put
him on our mare band and a group of selected mares. His
ranch bred offspring are Foxy,
Gabriel, Kiwi and Samson. They are all extremely
nice!
2007, Bullet had four foals at the ranch
and one to an outside mare, one dunalino, two ruddy
palominos, a very golden palomino, and a dark dun. In
order of birth, Dove, Scott, Rowdy, and Amber.

We are VERY pleased at the color and
quality of his offspring. Click here to see
the individuals on the foal page. Looks like his 2007 foal
crop is 100% color and all are extremely correct and highest
quality.

The stallion auction for OKFQHR was
in February 2007. His services sold to Janet Fanning at
Moore Blue Skies Ranch. The stallion service auction is a
great place to get a deal on a breeding from a wide range of
foundation quarter horses. We donated a breeding last year,
this year and will again next year. The bidding starts at half
the regular breeding fee. Must be a member to bid. Every 2007
and 2008 foal by Bullet can be in the Super Stakes classes.

We drove down to
Tioga, TX, and met the nicest people and the greatest horse in
the world, Dunit With A Twist, Bullet's daddy at McQuay Stables. Moninya was so excited. To her it was
like meeting Queen Victoria. The horse looks very much
like Bullet except for the ruddy that is on Bullet's face and
legs. They act very much alike, very laid back, easy to
be around. Scratch Dunit on the under part of his cheek and he
makes exactly the same face of intense pleasure that Bullet
makes. Hmmmm, must have the same petting and scratching gene.
Dun It With A Twist, is by Hollywood Dun It and is out of the
great cutting mare, Peppymint
Twist. Bullet's bloodline with
the grand dam and grand sire of such notablity makes us expect
great things from his offspring.
Bullet is training the grandkids. He is
easy to ride but has too many buttons for a wiggling child. We
give instructions from the ground and if they don't follow
them or sit still he gets hung in reverse. A child learns how
to sit and where they place their hands. Balance is very
important. Click

Bullet was in
the front yard for a month or so. He enjoyed the extra
attention and had a daily routine that we found typical
of a 'people horse'. He watched TV! We moved the extra TV
closer to "his" window and left it on when we are gone. I
played him the movie, "Black Beauty". He watched the whole
thing! Usually he'll go to the shade around 9 but he stayed
until 10 because the movie wasn't over. He walks around the
house all day looking in the windows but that day he kept
coming back to the TV. As much as we enjoyed him, we were
glad when he went to the gelding pasture. He had taken to
"helping" with the laundry. He pulled the clothes off one by
one, finally pulling the whole line down. We miss his
closeness but not his piddling.
